Chiropractic Information

If you have never visited a Chiropractic Clinic before, you probably wonder just exactly what to expect now that you are here. Although, most of our new patients have been referred to us by other patients, they are often not fully aware of the steps we like to take before we accept a patient for care.

In every case we conduct a consultation interview through which we learn as much as possible about your condition. It is important to explore the circumstances that have led to your present complaint. Sometimes, an apparently simple problem for which a patient seeks attention, is actually part of a more complex condition.

After the consultation interview is completed, we usually begin a complete physical, postural, neurological, and orthopaedic examination of you right away! Standard diagnostic tests and laboratory methods are used along with the latest developments in chiropractic analytical procedures. X-rays are taken in most cases, because they give information that cannot be learned any other way.

This concludes your first visit. At this point we take time and carefully study the results of your consultation, examination and x-rays. If however, you have a condition requiring emergency attention, we so everything we can to give you some relief right away.

On your second visit we explain chiropractic care to you and present you with a detailed account of your condition. Your x-rays will be shown to you and the cause of your problem will be discussed in detail. We think it is important that you understand not only what is wrong, but what has happened to your body to produce your symptoms.

A treatment program designed for your particular health needs will be outlined to you this visit and you may be given some things to do at home. The program itself has basically three phases or objectives;

1. to give you relief from your pain or other symptoms as quickly as possible
2. to correct the cause of your problem
3. to maintain that correction

Chiropractic care consists mainly of spinal adjustments which your Doctor of Chiropractic performs with his hands. These adjustments remove vertebral subluxations or misalignments from your spine and eliminate any pinching or irritation from nerves that go from your spine to all parts and organs of your body!

The main theme or key to our approach is prevention. Your spine is the foundation of your body. It should be examined and adjusted regularly to control and prevent future disorders and disabilities.

We have found that ofter adult problems have a start in childhood and may lie dormant only to emerge in the adult years. Some spinal disorders seem to run in families and it is imperative to have growing children examined and adjusted regularly. Spinal scoliosis (curvature) is very common. Its onset usually begins in the early growing years but various effects are often not noticed until much later. After all ... as the twig is bent - so grows the tree!
